"I Love A Piano!" Great Song! Great instrument! I love to teach piano and I'd love to teach you. My students are 3 yrs old and up. My oldest student is 80. Once children recognize numbers 1 thru 5 (1,2,3,4,5) and the Music Alphabet, 7 letters in all (A,B,C,D,E,F,G) they are PIANO READY. Piano lessons can be taught to the entire family. What a great way to spend quality time together. Families that play together, stay together. The piano offers a continuing adventure into the world of music. Some of our greatest musicians today began piano lessons at a very early age. Some gifted musicians began piano lessons in their mid 70's. The piano is a beautiful instrument to the eye and to the ear. It is also a great starter instrument. It is easy to play. There is no need to hold it and you won't get calluses on your fingers from practicing. There is no pain, only gain. As long as you can sit up and wiggle your fingers you can play a piano. Playing a piano or keyboard is something one can do alone. Still, everyone loves to hear piano music and folks will be drawn to you.
The piano teaches discipline, humility, self confidence, poise, creativity and showmanship. Did you know that playing the piano makes you smart? It has been proven to raise the IQ's of 6 yr olds and to increase the memory of senior citizens!
My students do well in competitions and enjoy performing. A number of my Piano Students play musical instruments in Middle School and high school marching bands. They also enjoy playing in school jazz bands. I often teach my Piano students to play their band instrument parts on the Piano. This enables them to play the correct timing, phrasing and notes on their band instrument of choice. Through the years, a number of my Piano Students have been selected "Outstanding Bandsman in their schools and many have won awards in band competitions. My students have also won honors in The Cultural Arts (Reflection Program) Song Writing Competition and have come in at "1st Place and 2nd Place" in the State of Tennessee, having won 1st place in their school competition, and won 1st Place over all other "1st Place Winners in their District. My students have also competed and won awards in The Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Contest. I always praise my students for their efforts and for practicing their piano lesson whether or not they choose to participate in recitals or competitions.
